The WHL - www.whl.ca (site no longer designed or maintained by AFAB)

The Western Hockey League web site was one of the largest and most interesting client projects of AFAB Publishing & Consulting. First created in 1996, we continued to be a part of this web site through the 2001-2002 hockey season.

While AFAB is no longer directly involved with this web site, we were instrumental in implementing many of the features still available to fans of the league. Currently, we remain available as additional consultants to assist in new projects that they may require.

The initial goal of the WHL web site was to offer up-to-date information about the league, the teams and the players. It has since grown to become a fully-interactive site with Fan Polls, period-by-period scoring updates, daily statistics, press releases, etc.

To achieve its objective of informing the public about the league and its commitment to hockey, the WHL site offers complete information about the league's history, the education program, the rule book, its relationship with other Major Junior Hockey Leagues across Canada and much more. This informative background attracts many new fans each season and has been praised by sports writers and fans as both interesting and easy to navigate.

Daily-updated player statistics, team standings and league news are the most attractive elements of the web site, attracting approximately 1,000,000 page views each month.

The WHL offers many hockey-related products to its fans so an online catalog was established to facilitate easy ordering of league/team souvenirs, clothing and publications.

During the 1998-99 season, a banner advertising program was implemented so that sponsors of the league could receive greater exposure to hockey fans and to provide additional revenue to the league.
